Greenhouse Project for growing roses in Middle East

1. The Business Concept

Herewith we like to present a short introduction to our technical offer for a GREENTECH turnkey-key greenhouse fitted for the production of roses. Green Tech BV is a company, which realizes greenhouse complexes "on turn-key basis". A greenhouse complex "on turn-key basis" means delivery of greenhouse constructions, equipment and units, and also construction of a complex up to installation of showers, toilets and furniture in the canteen. We do not only realize turnkey greenhouse-complexes, in our deliveries we do also include for the first year all industrial materials, nutritious elements and packing materials for export, etc.

To make a greenhouse-project successful there are four important factors, which have to be taken care of. In order of importance these factors are education, marketing, turnkey high- technological greenhouse-complex and financing. Green Tech has these four important factors incorporated in its business concept.

2. The Greenhouse Building

Green Tech proposes its clients to build turnkey greenhouse complexes of 3 hectares or a multiplicity of this size (for example 6, 9 or 12 hectares). The size of the industrial building depends on the greenhouse-area. From experience we know that greenhouse-units with a surface of 3 hectares (or a multiplicity) do have an economical size. This conclusion will be confirmed when looking at the overhead cost per square meter. Cost for machinery and staff are in a very good balance when working with a greenhouse with this size.

The greenhouse-units do have an almost square layout. A square layout takes care of the best energy efficiency possible. When the glass gable-area is as small as possible this takes care of low energy usage figures. Next to this Green Tech has looked at logistics. For efficient producing the transport distances within the greenhouse have to be as short as possible. We have been able to realise this in our designs.

3. Effective Rose Production

Green Tech has close communications with the largest producers of rosebushes in the world. For the first growing year the bushes are included in our deliveries. Concerning the choice of a rose-variety the decision should be taken in a later stage by the involved parties: the off-taker, the breeder of the rosebushes, the Dutch agronomists and your specialists. Parties will be looking for a variety which grows well in the local climate and which gives good prices at the markets.

4. Marketing and Sales of the Roses

The rose production from the Green Tech-greenhouses will be sold under supervision of GreenTech Flowers BV - who is a full subsidiary company of Green Tech BV - for the highest possible price on the foreign and domestic markets. Off-taker receives a fee (a percentage of the selling price) for his services. In this fee a payment guarantee is included; it does insure the producer that he receives the turnover from the production at his bank account in ten working days. For realisation of the production from the Green Tech greenhouses, between owner and Off-taker a separate contract will be signed. An automatic grading machine will grade the roses.

5. Growth Technology

The use of CO2 during cultivation takes care of a considerable raise in production. CO2 is separated from the flue gasses of the heating installation. The greenhouse-complexes are equipped with a screening installation. Using the screening will improve the greenhouse climate. During hot days it will be used to prevent the crop from strong solar radiation. The shadow in the industrial areas creates also favourable conditions for work of the staff. Specially suited for hot summers Green Tech has developed a greenhouse with a pad-and-fan system and a greenhouse where it is possible to increase the ventilation up to 50%. By the classical greenhouse the ventilation is approximately 19%.

6. Human Resources and Training

To come to optimized and high quality rose production, it is important to work with skilled employees. Green Tech has developed an education & training program, which is worked out especially for the Green Tech-greenhouses in co-operation with the state agricultural academy "Holland College". During one year (which is equal to one growing season) 4 employees are educated and trained to become greenhouse-managers. The students passing the education program successfully will receive a certificate which is recognised internationally. The program, which is both theoretical and practical, does contain a stay of 12-weeks in the Netherlands and in Middle East. This complete program, inclusive board and lodging during the stay in the Netherlands, is included in our prices.

Green Tech employs a number of high-qualified agronomists, who are used to work at greenhouse-projects all over the world. In total 18 months of agronomical services of our high-qualified agronomists to guide and instruct you on site are included in our services. These 18 months will be divided over 2 or 3 growing years. The agronomists supervise the greenhouse-crop and they also do the management of the total greenhouse-complex. Their activities include checking and supporting the process of harvesting, grading and shipping & handling, next to this they support the registration of all necessary crop-figures and the management of the greenhouse staff.
The goal of the agronomists is to make sure that the greenhouse-managers and greenhouse-staff can manage the work at the greenhouse-complex by their selves as soon as possible.

7. Agricultural Controlling

Green Tech/Den-Haan have their own laboratory to survey and coordinate the whole growing technology. All systems and installations in the greenhouse are connected to the greenhouse-computer. This makes it possible to have very exact settings and to have all systems and installations working together in an optimum way. With the greenhouse-computer adequate reactions to changes in and around the greenhouse can be made quickly.

The crop is irrigated by means of a system of hydroponics. Each plant has an individual dripper for the dosing of nutrients. With this system each plant gets its nutrients at the right place and with the required amounts. When a system of hydroponics is used there is no loss of nutrients, this gives high savings concerning the usage of nutrients. The outside of the tubes of the drip-irrigation system is in white colour, and this makes the temperature of the nutrition water ± 6 °C lower than those of the black tubes (black absorbs heat).

8. Summary

The offered greenhouse project is an example of the highest standard of agricultural technology and as well as ecological sustainable as also economically profitable. The main conditions and advantages of this project are as follows:

  1. The greenhouse will be designed according to the EN 13031 – 1 (European greenhouse building norm);
  2. The used nutrition water is being recycled, which saves ± 80% of the nutrition elements;
  3. The soil remains sacred from harmful substances;
  4. During combustion of natural gas the exhaust gases are cleared from ÑÎ2, which is used for improvement of air structure in a greenhouse, and as a whole conducts to increase productivity;
  5. The screening value in the greenhouse is 73%.
  6. The ventilation in the greenhouse of Green Tech is 50%. By the classical greenhouse the ventilation is approximately 19%. The shade value of the installation can reach up to 19%;
  7. A higher rose growth production will be achieved by dosing CO2;
  8. White / black walking foil is being used (the black side comes underneath). By so doing there is no need to do weed preventing in the greenhouse; the white foil always takes care of the reflection to the underside of the crops.
  9. Tempered glass for the roof is specially used against extreme sunlight and sandstorms.

Finally it has to be emphasized that the project involves financial securities, which support the external financing from European banks in the benefit of the investor:

  1. The project is turnkey, so this will not give extra costs or surprises;
  2. The greenhouse-staff will follow a horticultural education- and training-program. The staff will receive an international recognized diploma after completing the program;
  3. A Dutch agronomist will be on site totally for 18 months;
  4. All greenhouse-products will be sold by Green Tech Flowers BV at the markets of Middle East;
  5. The off-taker transfers the money for the sold products within 10 working days after selling the greenhouse-products to a bank account to be appointed by the investor.

THE PROCESS OF THE PROJECT REALISATION

The Triangle Group (Dubai) in co-operation with SGC Deutschland AG (Germany) is representing the greenhouse product in the Middle East and provides consulting and management services for the implementation of above described greenhouse projects including the financing. Complete business plans can be prepared on the base of the local boundary conditions and the clients requirements for the financial evaluations and bank negotiations. We also support our clients during the phase of the project realisation with the construction of the infrastructure and the greenhouse including the technology. Our target is the success of the projects for the benefit of our clients.
